EPIPorto
The EPIPorto project is a population-based study in progress for about 10 years, with the aim of assessing the determinants of health in the adult population of Porto. For this purpose we randomly selected 2485 persons, who have been repeatedly evaluated over time. Participants are invited to come to the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Porto Medical School, in order to answer a questionnaire on social, demographic and behavioural characteristics, and their clinical history. Additionally, objective measurements are made, such as blood tests, electrocardiogram, measurement of blood pressure, weight and height, evaluation of respiratory function and bone mineral density. Many scientific questions were answered by the analysis of these data, resulting in the publication of dozens of scientific papers mostly in international journals. |
